In thinking of ways to keep this site as sports oriented as possible. One idea was turning the avatar into a baseball card/player card.
The picture of the avatar would be the picture of the player card, the front of the card will include the player name/username, player's favorite team/sport and players number.
It will also include the players status:
(1)An avid player would be a veteran/all star
(2)A new player would be a rookie
(3)A dormant player on the DL.
(4)And so on...
When clicking on the player card, it will reverse to the back of the card.
On the back of the card would be the personal information (just like any other baseball card): date of birth, hometown, height, weight, etc. (that is voluntarily given) as well as the statistics for: Total Number of blogs, photos, videos, leagues, etc. that the player participates in. It could also hold a text box for the players favorite moment in his/her sports life.

Facebook has something similar in which you can determine what wigets or info you want displayed. This would make the site much better

It would be cool if I could come to a sports site every day and see who is signed on to shoot the breeze with. Ex. A bunch of old college buddies who have moved all across the country and now have their own lives but want to check in every now and then when they’re bored at work or whatever can visit to see who’s in the chat room.

Posted by smitty 07/22/2008 12:00 AM PDT i think have friends should mimic friends in real life ....for example...i wouldn't be a friend to someone who would think im a friend of theirs...i would also like too see would added me as a friend otherwise i have to comb the site to see who added me...and the friends that added me don't even know i added them...seems a little quirky to me...even an email of the person who added me could be a short term fix until you can see the friends who've added me.

1. Editable Playoff structure - There should be an option to choose which teams get first round byes.
2. Decimal option - To help eliminate ties in leagues.
3. Defensive Scoring - There should be points available for keeping teams under a certain amount of yards.
4. Waiver Wire setup!
5. A commissioner option to reject/approve trades
6. Option for a team kicker

Many teams have multiple owners so friends can "share" a team.

There needs to be a bulletin board, or smack talk on the league page and your fantasy team page.

Most owners have 2 email addresses that they'd like to receive league emails. Please add abilitiy for owners to add additional email addresses.

One of the biggest problems with fantasy leagues are poor live draft systems. Either the creation of Chatroom Draft Systems or a full-scale Live Draft System would be great even if your site did not host the fantasy sports league software.
All of the leagues I run draft on a chat system (like 37signals' Campfire) or Meebo to run our drafts because the CBS and Yahoo systems are just clunky.
Giving your users a sports-related place to conduct drafts could draw a lot of eyeballs.

1. Allow multiple owners for one team.
2. I would like to change the format of my home page. The way other sites have done, I can just click and drag a section (Draft Kit, Key Dates, Scoreboard, etc..) to where I want it. Some people may want FORUMS near the top, not hidden away in the bottom right corner.
3. Minor detail, but what if points in Fantasy Football were given on a decimal basis? Instead of Getting 8 points for 89 yards rushing, make it so 89 yards = 8.9 points. Same with receiving yards and field goals.

I like to make comments on almost anything I find necessary to voice my opinion on. Whether its Blogs, News Stories, Forums, I try to hit them all. The one problem is that I make so many comments, I lose track, and next thing I know, I can't find that blog or news story that I made a comment on.
For example, I make a comment on a blog, I would like to go back to see if someone posted a comment about my comment. But since there is so much material on the website, I can't find that blog unless I sift through every single blog.
I suggest that in My Profile, there is a "My Comments" section to track all of my commenting. Like My blogs, I can go to the My Comments section and see if anyone posted after me and easily make a counter post.

plain and simple - business cards.. they do not cost much and you can litter campuses with them.
For Example, go to FAU, talk to the fraternities, give them a handful, go to empty classrooms and put them on the desks, the FAU Football team and other sports teams, clubs, dorms... the least that will happen is that the site would get a bunch of hits

Ability to manipulate draft pick order in all rounds and the ability to trade draft picks.

Please add an option to combing rushing/receiving yards. Mainly comes in to play for RB's but can help with WR's too.

In addition to making the site hopefully iPhone compatible, the aim should also be to ensure that other web enabled phones such as the Blackberry, Samsung Instinct, LG Dare, etc. can view their team's scores, as well as set their roster.

This website would be even better if there was thing you could click to show projected stats for that week. You might also want to show the projected points so you might have an idea of the points you could get for that week.

On the tab where you customize scoring thier NEEDS to be a set of directions on how to give players bonus points for exceeding a certain amount of yardage. Here's why: Very confusing to figure out the difference between ranges( which I'm assuming is the value recieved for your total yards gained) and bonus( total yards per game in special situations) and finally the one box that awards points for yards rushed/passed/recieved on any one particular play...it can be figured out but it is definitley not easy unless you have prior knowledge... a simple key might help save alot of trouble for our users.

I simply got a message that said the error was reported to the administrator and "sorry". It would have been nicer to say "pick a new user name" or something along those lines.

More importantly, once I entered the email, it right aligned it, so I couldn't see the left side of the email address. Many guys have the same domain part of their email, so I had to keep clicking on the email field to see who was who.

I'd like to see a full-commissioner quality system for Fantasy College Football which would be a step above the Basic Fantasy College system that CBS just launched. Of course, individual player names would be the "must have" for this particular system.

The toolbar for the fantasy is between the dashboard and the opensports toolbar.. it should be below the dashboard, its just awfully far away from what you are concentrating on

I think open sports should add a link that has the daily or weekly lines. Then members could talk about what they like and dont like. Many websites like covers.com have became very popular for forums like this.

For example, a league should be able to make the Championship matchup span over two scoring periods with the ulimtae winner being the team with the highest cumulative point total over that period. This helps to eliminate the one week wonder problem.

Nothing gets people fired up like sports and what is more appetizing to sports fans than to show their enthusiasm? VIDEO! My idea is pretty simple. Let people use their webcams to make their own comments. Open sports could use those video comments to show a string of fan opinion. It could present topics similar to current.com.

power: 1 QB, 3 RB, 0 WR, 2 TE, 1 K, 1 D
run n shoot: 1 QB, 1 RB, 4 WR, 0 TE, 1 K, 1 D
It would be nice to have the site be able to allow these rosters (I think it currently can be configured to allow these), and disallow invalid rosters that don't fit one of these configurations (not currently possible).

This would help attract users to the site if it looks as nice as what I have seen so far, without requiring them to go through a full league setup.

There should be a point system that credits a defense for yards allowed. Or at least give a field with a range option for the commissioner's to adjust.

We also have bonus scoring for distance td's: 6 points for 0-9 yards, 9 for 10-39 yards, and 12 from 40+ yards. Can this be added?

I currently use a spreadsheet and CBS Commissioner to run a dynasty league that always has a waiting list and is constantly copied by members and ex-members. I have attached a copy of the league rules and the spreadsheet for this year's league that I use to maintain contracts.
Based on an auction draft system, the basic premise is that owners can assign contract lengths after each year's draft to newly drafted players. The contracts last between 1 and 5 years @ the owners discretion. The contract values increase each year at the predetermined rate listed below. Players can be dropped, but they incurr a salary cap penalty for future year's salaries at a rate of 10% of the future year's salary rounded up to the nearest dollar. If the player retires or is kicked out of the league, different rules apply. No contract extensions are allowed after they are assigned.
Player contracts run 1-5 years, at the owner's choosing. Contracts are based on the Year 1 value and always follow this format:
Year 1 = Auction value
Year 2 = 120%+$1
Year 3 = 140%+$1
Year 4 = 160%+$1
Year 5 = 180%+$1

It would be cool if you could sort leagues by their location. As in if you prefer to only play with west coast owners as opposed to a league that is based in the east coast with primarily east coast owners.
